Upcoming Events

March 14
Sahaja Yoga and Chi Gong

We will practice Sahaja Yoga and Chi Gong at our meeting on Wednesday, March 14. Sujana Selvam and Miriam Sealy will co-facilitate the meeting.

Sahaja Yoga

Sahaja Yoga is a unique method of meditation. It seeks to achieve self-realization by awakening the kundalini, or spiritual energy, that lies dormant within each of us.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi -- who was born in India in 1923 -- rediscovered the ancient knowledge of Sahaja Yoga in 1970. She dedicated her life to introducing this spiritual practice to humanity.

Sahaja Yoga means “spontaneous union.” It seeks to help us re-connect with Spirit. The self-realization sought through Sahaja Yoga refers to a profound spiritual awakening from the illusions of the self and this physical world.

As Sahaja Yoga awakens the kundalini within us, the kundalini begins to rise through a central channel in the spine, piercing each of the energy centers referred to chakras within our energy bodies, until finally emerging at the top of our head in what feels like a gentle “fountain” of coolness. The kundalini may encounter blockages in any of our chakras, but it helps clear these blockages as it rises. In addition, the ascent of kundalini can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can  spontaneously cure even so-called incurable diseases as it rises. Sahaja Yogis often experience spiritual vibrations and a state of bliss as the kundalini rises.

Shri Mataji died in Italy on February 8, 2012 at the age of 88.

Chi Gong

Chi Gong is a form of “energy exercise” involving slow movements, deep breathing, and visualization. It dates back perhaps 5,000 years to its origins in China.

While many practice Chi Gong as a form of energy exercise, for others it is a type of alternative medicine or form of meditation. As such, Chi Gong leads to healing and allows you access to higher realms of awareness.

The flow of chi, or life force, into and through you is what sustains you. You can feel this life force pulsating in your hands and body when practicing Chi Gong.

Blockages or stagnation in the flow of chi into you leads to disease, aging, and death. The practice of Chi Gong enables you to remove these blockages. The infinite field of chi surrounding you then flows into and through you more easily. As this happens, you literally can feel the level of energy rising within you. It can have a positive affect on any ailments or diseases afflicting you you, even difficult ones like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Chi Gong is not just a health practice. It is also a spiritual practice. It helps deepen our connection with the universal field of chi, bringing a greater feeling of peace, balance, and spiritual connection in our lives.

You should try to wear loose-fitting exercise clothes to this meeting, but you do not need to bring a yoga mat because any exercises will be done from the standing position.

March 28
Your Soul's Plan

Would it astonish you to learn that you planned your life before you were born? Would it shock you to know that you yourself pre-planned the challenges you have experienced in life? In our meeting on March 28, we will examine the premise that we are eternal souls who pre-plan our lives before we are born and we do so for the purpose of spiritual growth during our lives. Roy Smith will facilitate this meeting.

Prior to birth, we have in-depth conversations with our spirit guides who will accompany us during our upcoming life, as well as with other souls who will incarnate with us and who will meet up with us in life. During these conversations, we talk to our guides and soul mates about what we hope to learn in our upcoming life. We even come to mutual agreements about what we will do for or to each other while here on earth.

During our meeting on March 28, we will watch and then discuss an 80-minute DVD entitled “Your Soul’s Plan: The Spiritual Meaning of Your Life.” This DVD features Robert Schwartz, who is author of the book Your Soul’s Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born.

In the DVD, Robert discusses the for main reasons why we plan before birth to experience great challenges in life. He tells us about his own spiritual journey and how he came to learn of pre-birth planning from his research. The remarkable insights he presents in this workshop will help you to see deep meaning in the challenges in your own life, heal negative feelings about these experiences, and replace them with acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, and peace.

In a personal session with a medium in 2003, Robert was astonished to speak with non-physical beings who knew everything about him. They told him that he planned many of his most difficult experiences before he was born. From this, he realized that knowledge of pre-birth planning could bring great healing to people and allow them to understand the deeper purpose of their life challenges. He decided to devote his life to the study of pre-birth planning.
